About

Perth and Kinross Business Week will provide a great opportunity for businesses from all sectors to realise their growth potential and consider new and better ways to do business. They can also find out about available support, network, and see how companies could work together.

Scotland’s businesses are the primary driver of sustainable economic growth, and our ability to succeed as a nation depends critically on the competitiveness of our businesses – large and small. Therefore the Government Economic Strategy, published on 12 September 2011, sets out the actions that the Scottish Government is taking to create the best possible environment for businesses, entrepreneurship and innovation to flourish.

The Strategy emphasises the importance that this Government places on accelerating the recovery, promoting jobs and supporting growth. It sets the direction for the public sector to work collaboratively with the private, academic and third sectors to drive sustainable growth and develop a more resilient and adaptable economy. We continue to work with our local authority partners and this event provides a fantastic example of the additional measures and activities that are being taken to support businesses across Scotland. This is why I chose to both support the event and deliver a keynote speech on the first day of the event.

Delivering sustainable economic growth is undoubtedly one of the greater challenges we face. By working together to get it right at events such as this one we can deliver one of the greatest rewards for Scotland.
